STWDS-1 Asphalt Particle Ionic Charge Testing ApparatusSummary:
This apparatus is designed and manufactured according to the transportation professional standard JTJ052-2000 T0653. It is used to determine the ionic charge of asphalt particle.The particle ionic charge of emulsified asphalt refers to the nature of the charge of dispersed particles in the emulsion, so as to determine the type of emulsion, cationic emulsified asphalt with positive charge and anionic emulsified asphalt with negative charge. This instrument determines the particle ionic charge polarity of emulsified asphalt by inserting electrodes into the asphalt emulsion, applying the electric field of DC 6V, and depending on the movement and attachment of ions.

The experimental steps are as follows:
1. The emulsified asphalt samples were filtered with a 1.18mm pore size filter and stored in containers.
2. Wash and dry the plate. Place the beaker rack on the beaker.
3. emulsified asphalt emulsion was injected from the injection hole on the beaker rack, so that the asphalt emulsion did not exceed the electrode height 30mm.
4. Set the time to 3 minutes, press the circular timing start button and start output.
5. When the time comes, close the instrument and remove the beaker holder.
6. observe the electrode plate. If a large amount of asphalt particles are adsorbed on the negative electrode, it indicates that the asphalt particles are positively charged, and the emulsion is cationic. On the contrary, a large number of asphalt particles were adsorbed on the anode, indicating that the asphalt particles were negatively charged, and the emulsion was anionic.
